When do we go to Mass on the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord?
Quick answer: It is celebrated on Sunday, June 2, in the Diocese of Tulsa.
Long answer: The Provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Omaha, and Philadelphia have retained its celebration on Thursday; all other provinces – including ours – have transferred this Solemnity to the Seventh Sunday of Easter.
The bishops of every province – a cluster of dioceses centered around an archdiocese – meet regularly to set policies within all the dioceses in their province. The Province of Oklahoma City includes the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, and the Dioceses of Little Rock and Tulsa.
We will have our regularly scheduled Masses on Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 a.m. and at 9:00 a.m. There is no obligation to attend Mass that day.
All churches in Tulsa will observe the Ascension on Sunday, June 2.
