Parishioner Melissa Bryce Gamble receives Lasallian Alumni Award
Bishop Kelley High School honored Church of Saint Mary parishioner and School of Saint Mary alum Melissa Bryce Gamble for her concern for the poor and social justice.
According to the BK website,
Melissa Bryce Gamble’s compassion for others was clear even as a high school student. She served in Anchor Club, NHS and volunteered at the Madonna House. When her daughter Ginny was diagnosed with a peroxisomal disorder, Melissa Bryce Gamble took action. She co-founded an international non-profit called The Global Foundation For Peroxisomal Disorders in October 2010 and has served as Treasurer, Board President, and now Executive Director. She funds groundbreaking research, provides comfort and advocacy for families, and promotes awareness for this rare, fatal disease. Although her daughter has since passed away, she continues with the same dream to one day allow kids born with the same disorder to live longer, happier, healthier lives.
