Father Jack’s comments about the Statement from the Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma

Dear Parishioners of Saint Mary,

Linked here (https://www.dioceseoftulsa.org/news/statement-on-allegation-of-sexual-abuse-against-a-former-priest-ben-zoeller) is a release from the Diocese of Tulsa about a former priest, Ben Zoeller, who has been accused of sexual abuse.  His first assignment as a newly ordained priest was here at the Church of Saint Mary from June 1965 to June 1968.  His subsequent assignments were all in the Oklahoma City Archdiocese.

While the allegation is from 1985, I am asking that if anyone has knowledge of abuse of a minor, either in this case or by any other person affiliated with the Catholic Church, please first call the DHS statewide Abuse Hotline (800) 522-3511.  They will direct you in further steps.  I would also ask that you report it to local law enforcement.

Since Ben Zoeller was a former priest of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, to report knowledge of any abuse in his case, you should also call their Pastoral Response Hotline at (405) 720-9878.  If you are more comfortable reporting anything through me, you may call me at (918) 749-1423 x 103 to begin the process of reporting abuse within the diocese.  Please know that I am available to assist you in this.
