Dedication of the Our Lady of Grace Center: November 28
Dedication
Most Reverend David Konderla, Bishop of the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma, will dedicate the Our Lady of Grace Center on Sunday, November 28. Bishop Konderla will celebrate the 5:00 p.m. Mass and bless the new building at 6:15 p.m.
Naming the Building
Parishioners gave input to Father Jack on their recommendations on the naming of the new building. The parish was overwhelmingly supportive of naming the entire complex the Our Lady of Grace Center.
Within the Our Lady of Grace Center are several spaces, each of which will be named after a saint:
- Saint Joseph, Pillar of Families Parish Hall
- Saint Maria Goretti Youth Space
- Saint Joachim and Saint Anne Meeting Rooms
The Relics
Inside the altar in the church are five relics. Four of them are first class relics, part of the saint’s body. Those are the relics of Saint John Neumann, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Saint Maria Goretti, and a martyr who name has been lost.
The fifth relic – that of Saint Katharine Drexel – is second class, meaning that it came from the clothing or a belonging of that saint.
Parishioners indicated strong support to name rooms in the new building or to rename existing rooms after those saints whose relics are on site.
As the church completes the building project, Beckerle Hall will become the choir rehearsal space and music offices. Other rooms, such as the existing Saint Anne Room, will be renamed after the saints in our relics.
