The Hands That Can’t Sit Still

A story of gratitude from our outreach ministry

For 2 years, one of our parishioners has not been able to volunteer on the floor at the Church of Saint Mary Outreach Center. Her mobility no longer allows for the standing, lifting, and long hours outreach work requires. But she found another way to serve. At her kitchen table, surrounded by scraps of fabric, she sews stuffed animals for the children who walk through our doors, often on some of the hardest days of their families’ lives. She has been doing this for over two years, rarely seeing the children who receive her gifts, yet every one of them walks out clutching something made just for them. She has asked to remain anonymous, but her heart is anything but hidden — it is stitched into every seam.
