October is the month of Mary and the Rosary. I hope that everyone has had an opportunity to become more familiar with the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary this month and has experienced the grace that God wants to give us to share with others because of our faithfulness in prayer. “A Rosary said in this way, in solitude and silence, is a most fruitful conversation with Jesus. It is a conversation with Mary too which leads to intimacy with her Son.”-Father Reginald Garrigou-Lagrance, O.P.
This final week of October, we are called to put into practice the fruits of each decade of the Luminous Mysteries. This is the action of the grace we receive in prayer overflowing into the lives of those around us. Reflect on how each of these fruits, 1) openness to the Holy Spirit, 2) Mary’s intercession, 3) Christian witness and conversion, 4) courage to bear the cross, and 5) greater love for the eucharist has impacted or graced you this month. Is there an action you can do for another that reflects one of these fruits of the spirit?
As a parish, we are scheduled to pray at the Garden of Peace as part of the 40 Days for Life campaign. Our parish’s designated days are Monday, October 26th and Tuesday October 27th. You can sign-up on the St. Mary’s website or go to the Forty Days for Life website. We will be praying the rosary to end abortion. This would be a way to seek Mary’s intercession, be a Christian witness, and exhibit the courage to bear the cross for the sake of those who have no choice. Whatever action you choose to do, let the fruit of your prayer life overflow in actions which positively impact others.
