Church Flooring: The Two-Week Report

How is the Church Flooring project coming? Where are we after two weeks of work?

We’re on schedule. The crews responsible for our stone tiles, our marble tile mosaics, our LVT, and our hearing loop system are have completed their work.

Five of the seven marble tile mosaics are embedded in our floor. Both the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) and the Sacraments of Vocation (Matrimony, Holy Orders) are gorgeous.

The LVT, or luxury vinyl tile, sits under the pews near the choir loft. It’s quiet, non-slippery, and matches the stone tiles in the aisles.

The hearing loop system will help parishioners and visitors with hearing aides. When the system is activated in August, it will turn hearing aides with a telecoil or T into earbuds. The antenna is laid under the LVT in the pews. When the four antennae, one sitting under each of the four sections of pews, are connected to the sound system, we will put up signs and make announcements at Mass to alert everyone.

What’s next?

This week will see the installation of LVT under a large section of pews. Stone tiles will be placed around it.

Sunlight streams across a section of linoleum as workers prepare to remove it.
