The story of St. Mary’s Vocations Committee began with a presentation at the parish Men’s Club in 1998 by Serra Club of Tulsa members. Today members of St. Mary's Vocations Committee sponsor programs that seek to foster and affirm lay and ordained leadership in our parish community: priests, sisters, brothers, permanent deacons and lay ministers.

Currently, parishioners – individuals, couples and families – serve the church with their prayers through the "Traveling Chalice and Crucifix" and "31 Club" prayer programs. Participants of both programs are also asked to pray for the Diocese of Tulsa’s seminarians.

Why don’t you consider being among the 26 households who sign up quarterly to take home either the Chalice or the Crucifix and the accompanying prayers for adults and children. Whether you sign up for the crucifix or chalice, you will receive instructions to aid you in your participation in this ministry. Participating individuals and families have found the prayers a rewarding experience.

Fr. Jack Gleason, pastor of the Church of the Madalene and diocesan vocations director, has written an article for their prayer book which is used with their parish Vocation Crucifix program: “Everyone Has Vested Interest, Vocations Are Everyone’s Business.”
