Fr. Richard Gielow, CM was born in LaSalle, IL in 1943 to Virginia and Robert Gielow. He was ordained a priest of the Congregation of the Mission of Saint Vincent DePaul in 1970. From 1971 to 1976 Fr. Gielow served as Director of Vocations for the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers. In 1976, he was appointed Rector and Principal of St. John's High School Seminary in Kansas City, MO and filled that position until 1982. He was then asked to join the Vincentian Parish Mission Team and has been a member of that team until the present time.
Father Gielow holds a B.A. in Philosophy, a M.Div. in Theology from DeAndreis Institute of Theology and a M.A. in Religious Education from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He is listed in the Midwest and Religious sections of Who's Who in America as a "well known preacher and retreat director."
Currently, Father Gielow is the Director of the Vincentian Parish Mission Center in Kansas City, MO. He is also the National Spiritual Advisor to the Ladies of Charity of USA.
Father Gielow enjoys people, travel and of course playing golf. He loves saying Mass for football teams from the NFL, especially the Chicago Bears. Look for him on the sidelines at the Bears away games with his twin brother, Fr. Robert Gielow, CM Fr. Robert is also a Vincentian and a member of the Mission Team. Sometimes they conduct missions together. Father Gielow's sister, Mary Ann Gielow, is the Director of Development for St. Cyril of Alexandria Parish in Tucson, AZ.
