On Wednesday, April 30th, the main water line to the facility burst. Water came gushing through the restroom doors on the south side of the building and flowed through the corridor like a river. Fr. Kastl, our custodian, and our maintenance man pushed it out of the building as fast as they could with mops.
Then came the troops. Plumbers, TRC Disaster Solutions, the City of Tulsa Sanitation Crew, Leak Detectors and the insurance adjustor. Water was vacuumed up, fans and humidifiers turned on, carpet ripped out, sheet rock cut, and the digging began. To find the source of the leak would take two days. The first hole was made in the parish office hallway, and the second one in Ginny Lane's (Pastoral Misnstry) Office, with a tunnel that connected them under the footing of the building. There, under the footing, the leak was found. The first attempt at a repair was unsuccessful, and at this time more digging has begun.
The entire facility is without water. School was dismissed on the 30th at noon and canceled for Thursday and Friday. On Saturday the two pipes with holes were finally detected, pipe was replaced, and a valve was installed. Partial water service was restored and then the water for the remaining facility came back on Monday.
